This isn't a secret anymore, after our single release on the 14th of March ('Keep Smiling' see video on front page), we are now preparing for our second EP release on the 12th of April.
We recorded this EP with Cambridge singer-songwriter Dan Wilde at his studio 'Gladeside Recordings' (https://www.gladesiderecordings.com/) and we'll be organising a show at the Portland Arms on the day of the release (http://theportlandarms.co.uk/wp/event/camisayo/).
All the songs of the EP carry with them the meaning of 'renewal'. All of them, one way or another, talk about a fresh start, letting go of the past, and making something new with it.
That's from this idea that we got 'Clean Slate' from, but also that we got our music video idea from. Early in February, snow was broadcast and we decided to clean-up a garden in Cambridge and to ask the amazing Sam Lance (http://www.facebook.com/SamJLance/) to film us doing it. Not exactly the weather for a garden party, but we went with it and were blessed with a gorgeous sunshine. Armed with brushes and an army of bin bags, we declustered, organised, and embellished the space to then have our closest over for tea and vegan sausages (one hell of a party).
Of course, the metaphor of cleaning is a bit on the nose, after all, we all go through these phases of declustering our houses/bedrooms when we need a fresh start. But further than just the cleaning, we wanted to emphasise the fact that with a community around us, with a group of friends, our families, we could do better than just starting over, we could channel our difficulties into creativity and carry them with us like a scout badge. That's what 'Keep Smiling' is about, and that's what we want to express with 'Clean Slate'.
If you fancy joining us for a part of the way, it would mean the world for us. We have the EP Launch coming out and we hope that we can see some of the familiar and less familiar faces at the Portland Arms that day.
